McKinney is one of the few DFW suburbs with a genuine historic core — the downtown square is intact and active, and the surrounding older neighborhoods have housing stock you simply cannot find in newer suburbs.
Move east or west from there and the picture changes completely: large-scale subdivision development, much of it recent, along US 75 and the SH 121 corridor. Practically speaking, McKinney is several different housing markets under one city name, and which part you search matters more than the city itself.
